MAINTENANCE OF RAW EXTENSIONS

Maintaining our raw hair extensions is essential to ensure they remain in good condition and last as long as possible.

TIPS:

WASHING:

1. Use high quality sulfate free shampoo: using a gentle sulfate free shampoo will avoid stripping the hair of its natural oils

2. Condition regularly: Deep condition at least 1x a week to keep them moisturized and soft. Apply conditioner from mid-length to the ends avoidng the roots and wefts to prevent loosening

3. Avoid over washing: Wash your extensions every 1-2 weeks or as needed based on product buildup and styling. Over washing can dry the hair out.

DETANGLING:

1. Gentle Brushing: Use a wide tooth comb or wig brush to detangle hair. Start from the ends and work your way up to the roots.

2. Brush Regularly : Brush your extensions daily to prevent tangles and matting. Be gentle to avoid pulling on the wefts.

DRYING:

1. Air Dry: Let your extensions air dry whenever possible. If you need to use a blow dryer, use a low heat setting and a heat protectant spray.

2. Pat Dry: After washing, gently pat the hair dry with a microfiber towel to remove excess water.

STYLING:

1. Heat protectant: Always use a heat protectant spray before using any heat styling tools.

2. Limit Heat Use: Minimize the use of heat styling tools to prevent damage. Opt for heatless styling methods whenever possible.

3. Avoid Tight Hairstyles: Avoid tight hairstyles that put excessive tension on the wefts, this can lead to breakage or hair loss.

MOISTURIZING:

1. Leave-In Conditioner: Use a leave in conditioner to keep the hair hydrated. Focus on the ends where the hair is most prone to dryness.

2. Hair Oils: Apply light hair oils , such as argan or jojoba oil to the ends of the hair to maintain moisture and add shine.

SLEEPING:

1. Braid or Bun:Before going to bed, loosely braid your hair or tie it in a loose bun to prevent tangling.
Silk or Satin Pillowcase: Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction and prevent frizz and breakage.

2. Sleep Cap: Consider wearing a silk or satin sleep cap for extra protection.
Professional Care:

PROFESSIONA CARE:
1.  Regular Check-Ups: Visit your stylist regularly for maintenance and to check the condition of your extensions. They can re-tighten or adjust the wefts as needed.

2. Avoid Chemical Treatments: If you plan to color or bleach your extensions, have it done by a professional to minimize the risk of damage.

ADDITIONAL CARE:

  • Avoid Chlorine and Salt Water: If you swim, wear a swim cap to protect your extensions from chlorine and salt water, which can cause dryness and damage.
  • Proper Storage: When not wearing your extensions, store them in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable bag to prevent tangling and dust accumulation.

  • Minimal Product Use: Avoid using products with heavy oils, silicones, or alcohol, as they can cause buildup and dry out the hair.
